Tung förlust i ÖVKs Forum
8 dec 2016
As Coach Patrick Aparicio said in his pre-match article the next two matches for FVBK will determine if they qualify for the final spot in the Grand Prix in January. Tonight FVBK’s first important match was away against Örkelljunga. If volleyball matches were still played to 15 FVBK would have been the clear victors. Unfortunately, despite FVBK’s well earned lead in all three sets they were unable to finish all the way to 25 points.
ÖVK 3 - 0 FVBK (25-23, 26-24, 25-21)
In the first set FVBK led at 16-12 after a nice service run by Silva. OVK feeling the pressure was unable to sideout, and made serveral service errors. OVK was able to make enough plays however to tie the score at 20-20 swinging the momentum in their favor. Despite multiple chances, FVBK was unable to take back control and lost 25-23.
FVBK came out ready in the second set again taking the lead being ahead 15-11, but then began a string of errors that allowed OVK back into the set. The rest of the set remained a battle with both sides doing a nice job remaining aggressive. After tough serving from Fayez the score was 24-24, but once more FVBK was unable to close the set with a missed serve and poor serve reception giving OVK the win 26-24.
The scores in the third set remained close the entire way. However, it was clear towards the end that OVK had confidence and momentum, and they showed how a team closes a set winning 25-21 and the match 3-0.
FVBK has a final chance against Habo on Sunday at 17:00 in Falkhallen to fight for the last spot in the Grand Prix. Come and cheer on FVBK to a place in this season's GP! The team needs all your support!
