Stark insats gav 3 snabba poäng mot RIG
23 nov 2016
Tonight's match went as many thought it would go, with a 3-0 victory to the home team. From a coach's perspective however, it is also important in HOW a team gets to that result. Today was a win that FVBK fans, and even a coach, can be pleased with.
FVBK 3 - 0 RIG Falköping (25-19, 25-10, 25-11)
The first half of the first set was a relatively close affair. RIG was a point behind at 8-7 and only 2 points behind as late as 18-16. Despite the score, the feeling was that FVBK was in control throughout the set. Many of RIG's points had come on FVBK errors or missed opportunities. FVBK was pushing from the serve line and missed more than we would otherwise want to (8 in the first set alone). At 18-16 Johan Gruvaeus and Sebastian Angel were subbed in for Victor Nielsen and Jean Prado Silva. The change gave the desired lift in focus and FVBK was able to run away at the end of the set, 25-19.
In both the second and third sets, there was never any doubt which team was going to win this match. Player of the match, Madison Hayden was extremely focused and excelled in all areas (16 points total including 6 aces). Johan Gruvaeus (13 points) also proved that his game is maturing all the time. He showed variation in attack while maintaining focus in defense and ball handling. Lärlingar Daniel Gruvaeus and Edvin Swärd also got a chance to play against their junior national team buddies and delivered solid performances. We can summarize by saying that we saw several fine actions from all individuals which created a TEAM effort that RIG could not match. In the process three important points were collected as FVBK continues to hunt a spot in this season's Grand Prix.
