Seger mot LVC i hemmapremiären!
16 okt 2016
Tonight's home premier in Falkhallen was a much anticipated event. The first meeting of two 'top' teams in the series and a rematch of last season's SM-Finals. FVBK raised their level in many areas throughout the match and won the intensely fought battle in 4 sets in front of almost 500 spectators!
FVBK 3 - 1 Linköping (22-25, 26-24, 25-22, 25-19)
The match started with an incredible amount of energy in the hall. There was a palpable amount of adrenalin flowing on both sides of the net, and the extra tension unfortunately led to extra unnecessary mistakes from the home team. The level of play varied greatly from both sides but it was LVC winning the first set 22-25.
LVC started strong in the second set as well. At 10-13 Sebbe Angel came in for Victor Nielsen and provided a much needed lift for his team. At the same time FVBK's reception stabilized allowing for a smoother sideout game. The energy from the first set had not subsided. Both teams were extremely aggressive and noticeably worked very hard for every point. LVC had set ball at 23-24, but a Jean Prado Silva attack tied the score. Madison Hayden followed with 2 great serves. One leading to a Madison attack from the back row and the other being an ace! The match was tied 1-1 going into the pause.
Coming back from the pause, one would hope it was time for the home team to start the set strong. Not the case. Linköping started the third set 0-5 and maintained that difference up to 7-12 before FVBK started reducing the lead. At 17-17 the set was tied and momentum had shifted once again. Fayez Alloush had a couple great serving series in this set, including an ace to give his team 22-20. Jean Prado Silva hit in a transition attack for 23-20 and then blocked a ball for 24-20. An LVC error gave FVBK the important third set 25-22
The fourth set was the only set where FVBK had control early. FVBK at this point had raised their lowest level in all areas and displayed a very high level of serving. The score was tied at 8-8 but it felt that FVBK was more determined to finish the match than LVC was determined to extend it. 25-19 was the score in the final set.
This was another very strong TEAM effort from FVBK. It is early in the season but beating LVC is never an easy task and it was a key match for the series standings. The team's reception was a big part of the night's success with Johan Eriksson once again leading the way (57% perfect, 76% positive). Madison Haden (matchens lirare) had 5 service aces in the match (26 points total), and Pedro Mendes contributed with 4 blocks (13 points total).
The team's next match is at home next week versus Vingåker. Don't miss the chance to see the new and exciting FVBK 2016-2017 in action!
