Inför Falkenberg - Vingåker

På söndag tar Falkenberg emot Vingåker för en spännande drabbning i Falkhallen. Ett Falkenberg som kommer till matchen utan chefstränare Ismo Peltoarvo.

På söndag är det dags för the pride of Vingåker att komma på besök. Det blir ingen vanlig match i Falkhallen när FVBKs mest rutinerad medlem är borta och jag får äran att göra min elit head coaching debut mot just min gamla klubb!


As most of you can imagine, it takes quite a lot to keep Ismo Peltoarvo away from his volleyball duties. He has turned coaching into an artform and has a pile of medals to prove it. Clearly it's no ordinary förkylning that has hit him, but we are certainly hoping that some bed rest and a few days away from DataVolley will get him back on his feet as soon as possible! In the meantime, I'm doing my best to fill his shoes. Laget håller på att återhämta sig efter en helg i Stockholm och Nordic Club Championships. Vi kom hem med en brons medälj, inte den färg vi längtade efter men ändå en bra och viktig helg som gav bra erfarenhet. Nånting vi kommer ha bra nytta av under slutspelet. Vårt spel var lite för upp och ner för att utmana danskarna men vi klarade oss bra mot Sollentuna. Januari månaden har varit en tuff period och det har speglats i spelformen men det känns som vi är på vägen upp och det ska vi fortsätta med även om det finns en yngre och mindre rutinerad coach vid sidlinjen (when was the last time I was described as 'ung och orutinerad'!?!?)


Despite the comeback of Vingåker's son, Jonas Pettersson, and the addition of former national team player, Ola Maineborn, to the coaching staff, VVK has had a rough ride this season. On a positive note, young Linus Fröberg (also a product of Vingåker's volleyball culture) is having his best season so far. He is third in the overall poängliga och leder servligan med hans 21 ess, näst bäst har 15!


Despite Linus' success in the poängprotokol VVK has recently lost to both Habo and RIG Falköping, and now find themselves dangerously close to losing that last slutspel spot. But as Nicklas Svensson (accomplished hunter, former assistant coach and he who has blocked me most in my life) warns, "an animal backed into a corner is the most dangerous kind!" In other words, I expect VVK to scratch and fight for every last ball on sunday, and even if I have to pull on the old #10 jersey, I'll see to it that we do the same!
